How Artificial Intelligence Transforms Stress Research and Its Application in the Health Settings

Behind the scenes of AI and Machine Learning in the Health Setting with Mark Hoogendoorn

In a recent podcast, Mark Hoogendoorn, Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Computer Science of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health setting and stress research. Challenges in analysing data with AI techniques are addressed (e.g., noisiness, explainability) and the potential of wearables to track health data. Analysis of (mental) health data allows to uncover patterns that go beyond what humans can perceive. Such information can be used to help health experts or improve prevention strategies.

Artificial Intelligence in RECONNECTED

Within the RECONNECTED project, AI algorithms are being developed and applied specifically to analyze mental health data. The goal is to better understand behavioral patterns and discover signals which might otherwise be missed. Moreover, AI will be used to personalize the mobile health application by learning from user interaction data. This allows to create a more adaptive application that evolves alongside user interactions.
