INESC TEC's Role in RECONNECTED

INESC TEC leads the design and development of the RECONNECTED Digital Support System, ensuring the technological backbone of the project. Building on its long-standing expertise in digital mental health solutions and its previous development of the Moodbuster platform, INESC TEC will adapt and extend this architecture to meet the new requirements arising from the CEMA study and the Factorial Randomised Controlled Trial.

Specifically, INESC TEC will:

      • Translate research needs into functional and technical requirements.
      • Co-design innovative digital tools that support therapeutic methods, delivered through responsive web and mobile applications.
      • Revise and expand the Moodbuster platform to enable personalised therapeutic modules, ecological momentary assessments, and micro-interventions.
      • Integrate advanced AI methods, such as reinforcement learning, to enhance personalization and optimize adherence.

Through this work, INESC TEC ensures that RECONNECTED provides a robust, scalable, and adaptable digital ecosystem capable of delivering effective interventions to vulnerable communities across Europe.

Acknowledgements

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the European Union through the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101081020). We would also like to thank our long-standing collaborators at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) for their continued partnership in the development of the Moodbuster platform, which we proudly co-own and further advance together.
